The History Behind PoDDSS

J

oyce-Lyn has dreamed of owning her own business to pursue her passion of working with people with complex needs because she knows that she can make a positive difference and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

Think Big, Start Small, Move Slowly, Grow.

Joyce-Lyn created the name PoDDSS with the assistance of her good friend, Dr John Livingston, Clinical Psychologist. Joyce-Lyn tried to come up with an easy acronym which explains the ethos of PoDDSS.

MULTIDICIPLINARY APPROACH

The PoDDSS team prides themselves on thinking outside the box and trialing various evidence-based techniques that might better support the person or families involved, as well as improving functional capacity, and their ability to interact with those around them.

  • Disability sector specialists – out team have decades of industry experience
  • Complex case specialists – we get the call when it all goes wrong
  • People not profits – your quality of life comes first

The PoDDSS team are a strong advocate for families, participants and will work with those families seeking access to NDIS supports.

OUR VALUES

Person-centred service provision that changes lives one plan at a time by demonstrating respect, honesty, and transparency.

We believe that the primary person and their support network should be actively involved in the decision-making process about things that affect their lives. We are vigilant about human rights and fundamental freedoms that should be enjoyed by all to live a life free from discrimination, abuse and neglect. We believe in a collaborative and individualised approach between the person, their support networks, service providers and PoDDSS to identify the best solutions possible.

We are vigilant about human rights and fundamental freedoms that should be enjoyed by all to live a life free from discrimination, abuse and neglect. We believe in a collaborative and individualised approach between the person, their support networks, service providers and PoDDSS to identify the best solutions possible.
PODDSS works with primary persons as well as their families, support networks and stakeholders to provide options for quality of life through choice through a person-centred approach with the overall aim of enabling choice and achieving their chosen goals.

PoDDSS believes that individuals need to be supported by trained and competent staff. We are a group of people from a variety of backgrounds who have worked extensively for people with a disability and ranges of diagnoses. We include psychologists, social workers and behavioural analysts and these skills come together to provide quality Support Coordination.

PoDDSS has a commitment to quality and continuous improvement. There is an ongoing focus on continuously reviewing, improving and enhancing the support that primary persons receive. To ensure we meet our commitment, we regularly seek the opinions and feedback of primary persons, their support networks and stakeholders to make sure we are delivering a high-quality service. Primary persons, their support networks and their stakeholders are asked to complete a Client Feedback Survey on a regular basis. This gives carers and individuals a constructive pathway to provide feedback on the service provided.
