Damien Cornford

amien Cornford was born in Townsville and raised in the Burdekin and Bowen. He has two members of his family who have been under the NDIS blanket of support within north QLD and understands personally the struggle for families going through the process.

Damiens main reason for working as a Support Coordinator was his personal struggle and overwhelming experience with his Aunty going through NDIS and government care locally. This promoted his own research and started the process of working within the sector.

efore working as a Support Coordinator at PODDSS Damien was working as a Support Worker with children and adults with Autism in Townsville.

Damien’s experience in business consulting, law and holistic therapies coupled with his personal experience gives him a unique perspective, which enables him to offer strong support for NDIS participants but also understand your personal journey and walk along side you. As for many people understanding the NDIS process can be very daunting, and Damien has a great way of explaining concepts, which will make the process easier for you.

He is currently part of a network of other parents with similar circumstances who share their experiences in dealing with complex behaviours. This in turn has given him valuable insight into how important it is to have caring and empathetic support to help provide the best outcomes for his son. His philosophy is not based solely on the emotional support these experiences provide, but their value in utilising the diverse talents, communication skills, strengths, and knowledge that other parents, carers, professionals and providers can offer.
