iona moved to Townsville with her small family, her husband and son 15 years ago. Fiona had been working with the Department of Child Safety in NSW for 6 years prior to moving to Far North Queensland, working in the State Intake Centre, Parliamentary Cabinet and Support also in the Domestic Violence Line.

Fiona worked with the Department of Child Safety, in the Rural and Remote Team working on Palm Island and in the Burdekin area, working with families from a range of backgrounds. Whilst at Child Safety Fiona received Cultural Sensitivity Training as well as other specialized training such as Resilience Training. Fiona then diversified into unrelated fields.

iona discovered her passion for the Disability Sector earning a Certificate III and IV in Individual Support – Disabilities. Since then, Fiona has built her skills as a Support Worker, working with people who have behavior barriers and physical disabilities.

Fiona has been successfully working with people to reach their goals, and overcoming difficulties, she has spent the last several years assisting participants to fulfill dreams of travel, assisting and accompanying a participant to reach a lifetime goal of travelling interstate. Also encouraging participants with the confidence to return to work and supporting participants in re-entering the community, to visit places and carry out activities they have longed to achieve.

Fiona is a strong advocate for Human Rights and believes in equality for all, with a commitment to continuous professional development and personal growth. Fiona strives to provide a person-centered service that helps people to find their voice and achieve their life goals and most importantly themselves.

In her spare time Fiona enjoys attending gym, walking, and exercising even though binging on Netflix is a preferred hobby, she enjoys yoga, music and loves all animals. Fiona also likes to travel Australia seeing many parts of Queensland, NSW, Victoria, and Tasmania. Her dream is to travel abroad once she has visited the states and territories of Australia

Having come from a migrant family and the area of Western Sydney Fiona understands the challenges that people & families can face, she has the experience and drive for working with individuals to help them achieve the unique life and lifestyle outcomes they are seeking and is relentless at helping people to achieve those outcomes.
