ohn Edwards has joined PoDDSS as behaviour support clinician and counsellor. He provides genuine client-centred services to deliver positive outcomes for clients.

John previously worked alongside First Nations Australians to improve Social and Emotional Wellbeing in community.

Through his family’s experience of disability, John recognises how important it is to assist clients and families to get vital services and feel that they are supported, valued and not alone. We all deserve the opportunity to “live our best life” and the PoDDSS team facilitates people to move in this direction.

ohn has qualifications and life/work experience that enable him to respectfully collaborate with clients and supporters to achieve independence, stability and fulfilment.

John has bachelor’s degrees in education and psychological science and a Master of Guidance and Counselling. He works with clients to achieve practical outcomes that build coping skills, a positive sense of self, improved social and emotional wellbeing and quality of life.

John has assisted clients in many areas, including:

  • Trauma, abuse, stress/anxiety, and the everyday problems of life

  • Employee Assistance Program counselling & support following critical incidents
  • The National Redress Scheme (trauma resulting from institutional abuse)
  • NDIS
  • Men’s diversionary service and Social Emotional Wellbeing service
  • DFV
  • Support to those affected by suicide

John provides the following services:

In earlier times John served in the Australian Defence Forces (in the Navy, Army and Air Force) and has travelled extensively throughout Australia and overseas. He worked in aviation and spent some time as a teacher.

John’s priority is form empathetic and trusting relationships that enable clients to aim for achievement of life goals, security, independence, participation, and joy.

She has long experience in the delivery of human services sector as well as developing services, delivering training and designing individualised supports to people with a disability and their families.

PoDDSS Welcomes Parimal Reddy, Parimal had studied and completed a degree in Dentistry in his home country being India some years ago and he has now recently completed and achieved his master’s degree in Social Work (Professional qualifying) at James Cook University in Townsville.
