Theresa Weatherly
Behaviour Support Practitioner
heresa Weatherly has joined PoDDSS with a wealth of experience in providing core disability support services.
Working with individuals and their key stakeholders to develop, implement and monitor Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
Theresa’s passion is to assist others to break down barriers, meet challenges and reach their potential by working in teams and partnerships focused on improving the life and wellbeing of others using person-centred practices.
The qualifications Theresa holds are bachelor’s degrees in Psychological Science and Business, post graduate diploma in Psychology, certificate IV in Disability and various other certificates in Professional Development areas including Optimal Individual Service Design with Michael Kendrick and IABA Positive Practices in Behaviour Support.

heresa started in the disability sector as a support worker in early 2009. In late 2010, Theresa moved into team leadership and has coordinated teams providing individuals supports within group SIL homes, day services, individualised 24/7 supports and community access.
These experiences have provided Theresa with a broad understanding of the daily challenges that individuals, families, support workers and other stakeholders can face. The successes Theresa has achieved in leading teams to provide quality disability supports for individuals are underpinned by qualifications and life/work experiences which enable her to be open to see difficult situations from the various perspective of others for the development of supports that truly meet their needs.
The approach Theresa takes in delivering services is inspired by Michael Kendrick’s identification of 20 Universal Domains of Needs and applying the precept of understanding what these needs are for a person and how they can be best met to achieve an optimal lifestyle and supports arrangement for that person. The domains of needs include all aspects of an ordinary independent life like the basic needs of nutrition, health and home and higher needs like Valued Social Roles, Relationships, Respect and Opportunities for Learning, Growth and Experiences.
Theresa provides the following services:
Theresa sees her approach as complementary to PoDDSS’ chosen IABA approach to Positive Behaviour Support practices and use of Quality-of-Life measures in their assessments and development of PBS Plans. The PoDDSS’ vision THINK BIG, START SMALL, MOVE SLOWLY, GROW also resonates with Theresa’s working style. So, Theresa feels inspired and privileged to be working with the PoDDSS team in delivering quality Positive Behaviour Supports.
Within her personal sphere Theresa has had experiences with Mental Health, Epilepsy, ADHD and other conditions and circumstances which assist her in understanding the challenges faced by others and inform her approach and interaction style with others. In her down time, Theresa enjoys time with family, the great outdoors, gardening, arts, crafts, cycling and reading, to maintain a healthy balance in her life.
