illiam Mabo is a Nywagi, Dunghatti, Meriam man and was born in Townsville. He grew up developing a strong connection with his culture and heritage. William currently participates in both aboriginal dance groups and works very closely with the Traditional custodians of Gurrambulbarra (Townsville) and assist them in ceremony.

Over the years William has been fortunate to work in many different roles and industries. Working for both large and small organisations in Construction, Defence, Education, Child Safety and Youth Justice. Most recently working in the Townsville Youth sector for the past 8 years.

illiam has developed a wide array of skills to better communicate, connect and support people. William believes that developing strong relationships is a vital part of working together and supporting people to achieve their goals.

William has worked closely with several organisations in Townsville being:

  • Dance north Dance company
  • Multiple Primary Schools and High Schools
  • Townsville Multicultural Support Group

  • Cleveland Youth Detention Centre

William provides the following services:

As a Support Coordinator, William is eager and looks forward to the challenge and growth that comes with working in this new area. Although William is a new member of this sector, he is open and willing to learn and gain a better understanding of some of the struggles faced by people living with disabilities.

In Williams’ spare time, William takes care of his young family. He loves spending time on-country and when able to likes to go fishing, crabbing and camping. William’s long-term goal is to become a great Storyteller one day.
