Behavioural Support involves structured behavioural assessments under the Disability Act 2006 to provide Proactive and Reactive Strategies and Positive Behaviour Support Plans mainly for NDIS-funded participants.
This may involve training of formal and informal supports, providing sensory advice, or assisting the primary person to access alternative communication that supports social skills, independence and progress towards life’s goals and aspirations.
Our Psychologist works with you to complete assessments, skill development (like social skills or managing your emotions) understanding new concepts and/or developing coping skills in line with your NDIA plan.
Our Psychologist is also Medicare registered service charging $ 180.00 which attracts medicare or private health fund rebates.
Support Coordination is an NDIA support that helps participants build a network of informal, mainstream and funded supports to realise their goals, and live a connected life within their community.
When Support Coordination is on a participants NDIS Plan, the participant selects their preferred Support Coordinator. The Support Coordinator then helps the participant connect to other supports and manages the relationships as service delivery progresses.
“Dear Leigh-Ann, thank you for being the most wonderful, caring and encouraging support coordinator in the world!! And who also makes big things happen. You’re the best.”
“PoDDSS is a truly person-centred organisation who think outside the box and utilise evidence-based practice to support people with a disability to achieve their goals. The organisation recognises the importance of a multi-disciplinary, individualised approach in achieving quality of life outcomes for people with a disability. The staff at PoDDSS are specialist and work with people with complex needs and situations. PoDDSS has a strong human-rights focus, and the team demonstrates respect, honesty and transparency throughout their work. From an outside Perspective, the high-quality service provided by PoDDSS is second to none. Now having become part of the team for a while, I can see that it is your hard work & persistence that has led to creating a workplace that can achieve these results. The work you are doing for people with disabilities & their families is life changing”
“Paul was a very vulnerable, isolated, unsafe and lonely man when I first met with him to advocate for him. His sadness was evident and the supports at that time were not acting in his best interests. As an advocate, you choose the right people for the right client and I certainly chose the right support coordinator. To receive that amount of funding in a plan needs to be acknowledged and congratulations to the people who were involved in assessments, reports and daily care and of course you and your team at Podds. This is a great achievement Joyce-lyn and I thank you on behalf of Paul. ”
“PoDDSS are easily the best Support Coordinators in Townsville. I struggled for three years to navigate the NDIS systems. My LAC was totally useless, I had lost hope, and was ready to give up on the NDIS. The original promise of the NDIS now felt like a cruel joke. With the help of Independent Advocacy NQ I found PoDDSS. The team at PoDDSS are miracle workers. Both kids now have the plans they need. And I finally feel my support coordinators are on my side. PoDDSS have supported me to fully implement both kids plans.
PoDDSS are the Best!”
“Just touching base to say I enjoyed your training session at Connect as I know all the participants did as well. What I really got a lot out of was your personal experiences in the field which gave a depth and 3rd dimension to the information you were sharing. You’ve obviously had a wealth of experience and are very passionate about your work which I connect with and appreciate. Hope we can catch up again at some point down the track.”
